John Hancorn is music director of the BREMF Singers, Baroque Collective Singers, East Sussex Bach Choir and Eastbourne Choral Society, and co-director of The Baroque Collective and Lewes Baroquefest. He leads workshops and masterclasses specialising in baroque repertoire including regular visits to Early Music Fora. He is Associate Lecturer in Choral Studies at the University of Chichester and is a specialist examiner for Trinity Laban.
‘He is such a skilful, sensitive and experienced musician and he brings great beauty and drama to whatever piece he conducts in the most natural, unforced, but telling way. He has a seemingly easy rapport with singers and players alike which brings out the best from his musicians, but at the same time demands alert concentration; an effective combination of security and discipline with lively creativity.’
